Flag

Ratio: 2:3 . Based on Smith [smi75b], p. 214.
Eugene Baldwin, 23 September 1998

Prime Minister (2:3~) - At [pay00], the flag is diagonally divided in yellow and blue (shades equal to the national flag), divided by a black and white rope forming in the middle white disk containing the national coat of arms. Album here agrees with [smi80] in the flag ratio as 2:3~. The image above disagrees in minor details with the two (form of the knots at the connection of the disk with the diagonal, shades of the fields, colours of the coat of arms - notably the dolphin should be blue not green). For the record, the motto is "Pride and Industry".
Željko Heimer, 24 February 2001

It is difficult (for me anyway) to figure out what happens at the rope junction between the diagonal and the circle. A few illustrations seem to take the same route as what I show here, however both Album and Smith (1980) show two different confusing knots.

In Mauro Talocci's book "Guide to the Flags of the World" page 270, the artists take the easy way out and show no connection at all! In the process, they also manage to swap the diagonals around with a blue over yellow version.

Finding information about this flag proved to be a fruitless task, but it was probably introduced at some point in 1966 - the same year that the national flag and Queen Elizabeth II's standard was adopted.
