The Rauf Denktaş University (website) is composed of the Faculties of Law, Architecture and Fine Arts, Business and Economics, Tourism, and of Engineering Program, and of the Vocational Schools of Justice and Computer Programming.
RDÜ is named for Rauf Raif Denktaş (1924-2012), founder and president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (1983-2005).

The young RDÜ was involved in a controversy that cause the collapse of the 34th government of Northern Cyprus, led by a coalition of four parties. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay, announced on 8 May 2019 that his People's Party was pulling out of the government. Serdar Denktaş, Rauf Denktaş' son and leader of Democratic Party, announced less than four hours later his resignation as Finance Minister. This prompted Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman, leader of the Republican Turkish Party, to announce his own resignation.
The crisis was mostly caused by repeated claims that Serdar Denktaş had leased state-owned land to the Rauf Denktaş University, of which his son is a partner, without following procurement rules.
[T-Vine, 10 May 2019]

The flag or RDÜ (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is white with the university's emblem, which features a stylized "RD" monogram with a white star outlined in red, the whole being a straightforward reference to the flag of Northern Cyprus, and the namesake's signature, in red. The red outer ring is inscribed in white with the university's name, in Turkish (top) and English (bottom).
