The Turkish Cyprus Shipping Co. was established on 12 March 1975 as a joint venture between the Turkish Maritime Organization (51%) and the Consolidated Development Fund of the Turkish Cyprus Assembly (49%).
The headquarters of the company are located in Gazimağusa (Famagusta) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; the company has general agencies in Mersin and İstanbul.

The house flag of Turkish Cyprus Shipping Co. is horizontally divided red-white-red (1:2:1) with the black letters "KTD", "T" being much bigger than "K" and "D".
