Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Or, a wolf trap Gules, flanked in dexter base by a small saltire Gules and in sinister chief by a heraldic rose Gules, seeded Or and barbed Vert.
Meaning:
The hook is taken from the arms of the Counts of Galen, who ruled the area from 1677-1827 and owned the proper Lordship of Dinklage (German: Herrlichkeit Dinklage) with proper administration, jurisdiction, taxes and earnings, however always as vassals of the Bishops of Münster. The Lordship consisted of Dinklage proper and Brockdorf village. Saltire and rose are taken from the arms of the Lords of Dinklage, who played an important role among the burgers of Vechta since the 13th century. Hugo von Dinklage built a new local castle in 1403. The colours red and yellow are those of the Bishopric of Münster and of the Galen kin as well.
The arms were adopted by the municipality as pattern of the seal in 1936 and approved in 1955 by Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony.
