Description of coat of arms:
Shield Or, an axe Azure flanked by six torteaux.
Meaning:
The axe is symbolising the former medieval wood-court Sutholte, which was given to the Counts of Diepholz by the Bishops of Münster. The red discs (torteaux), also denoted as " coins" or " golden pennies" are alluding to the legendary origin of the village. During a visit of Countess Margaretha of Diepholz she threw golden coins to the local farmers, when she was crossing the local bridge. The bridge was later named Golden Bridge and the village Goldenstedt (or place of gold).
The arms were approved in 1936 and a slightly changed version confirmed in 1951 by Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony.
