According to <www.mipasaje.com>
, Piñas flag is
horizontal triband of green-yellow-red.
Dov Gutterman, 14 September 2007
The image from <www.mipasaje.com>
is a 1:2 tricolour really dark green over a pale yellow over a
dark red. The descriptionis roughly: "It's three equal
horizontal stripes, green at the top, yellow middle, and red at
the bottom."
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 3 October 2008
The canton of Piñas was formed on 8 November 1940. The name
of the place was coined in 1815-1816 by its founder, Juan de
Loayza, after his birth place, Piñas (Spain).
Translated from <www.mipasaje.com>:
"Author: Dr. Alfonso Loayza Jaramillo The flag is made of
three equal horizontal stripes, green on top, yellow in the
middle and red on the bottom. Green represents the colour of the
canton's fields and forests rich in tropical hardwood and the
firm roots of the inhabitants in their birth land.
Yellow represents the canton's resources expressed as the taste
of the fruits and the skills of the inhabitants. Red symbolizes
the ardent blood flowing into the veins of the valorous
inhabitants, reverberating into the sky and light. The tricolor
indeed means beautiful and courageous like its sons."
