The municipality of Santervás de Campos (130 inhabitants in 2012; 5,411 ha) is located in the north of Valladolid Province, on the border with Palencia Province, 90 km from Valladolid. The municipality is made of the villages of Santervás de Campos (capital), Villacreces (deserted since 1981) and Zorita de la Loma (3 inh.).
Santervás de Campos is the birth place of Juan Ponce de León y Figueroa (1460-1521; biography), 1st colonial governor of Puerto Rico (1509-1512, 1515-1519) and (controversial) discoverer of Florida (1513).

The flag (photo, photo) and arms of Santervás de Campos are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 10 May 2012 by the Municipal Council, signed on 21 June
2012 by the Mayor, and published on 4 July 2012 in the official
gazette of Castilla y León, No. 127, p. 44,978 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3, made of a plain white saltire, the upper and lower triangles blue and the triangles at hoist and fly red, charged in the middle with the municipal coat of arms in full colours.
Coat of arms: Per bend sinister, 1. Gules a scallop argent ensigned with a sword and a staff of the same per saltire, 2. Azure a nave argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
The symbols were designed by Rubén Ojeda (El Norte de Castilla, 14 October 2012).
The colours of the flag represent the crusaders, as well as Florida
and Puerto Rico, two countries conquered by Juan Ponce de León.
The sword and the staff represent St. Gervasius and St. Protasius,
respectively. Gervasius was beheaded while Protasius was impaled.
The scallop recalls that Santervás de Campos is located on the Way of
St. James.
The nave represents the crusaders and discoverers born in the village.
