The University of Zagreb is composed today of 29 faculties (list), 3 academies (list) and a number of other entities.
The various constituent units of the University of Zagreb are legal persons on their own, having their own Statutes, which often, if not always, prescribe the emblem and the flag. The emblem is sometimes refered to as a "coat of arms" even if it is clearly not a heraldic coat of arms, but in other cases it is called simply a symbol or a logo.
Almost regularly, the Statutes include prescription that the symbol
("coat of arms") of the University and its flag are to be used as
well. Sometimes it is even prescribed that the University flag and arms
are also those of the particular unit.
In some cases no symbols (besides the administrative seals required for legal purpose) are prescribed, but clearly, some are in use. In yet other cases, there is a "new" symbol in use, while the Statutes
prescribe an older version. Or, the Statutes simply mention the
symbols to be defined further in some other internal regulations.
Very often, the "coats of arms" are made of a circular seal, with inscription around the edge and an emblem in the centre, often featuring a building. Other are more innovative, soem of them featuring a commercial graphical logo.
Almost as a rule, the flag is monocoloured, charged with the emblem. The colour of the emblem ("coat of arms", logo, symbol) is often, but by no means always, not defined for individual use; however, they are then, mostly, prescribed to be shown in a particular colour on the flag. Sometimes even the use of the emblem on the flag prescribes different colour then when used individually.

Flag and emblem of the Faculty of Agriculture - Images by Željko Heimer, 16 September 2014
The Faculty of Agriculture (Agronomski fakultet - Facultas agronomica Zagrabiensis) succeeded the Faculty of Economy and Forestry (Gospodarsko-šumarski fakultet) established in 1919 as the fifth Faculty of the University of Zagreb. It was separated from it as the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (Fakultet poljoprivrednih znanosti) prior to the current name.
Article 4 of the Faculty Statutes, Statut Sveučilište u Zagrebu Agronomski fakultet (pročišćeni tekst), last amended on 21 April 2011 (text), prescribes the emblem to be
circular with four red stylized fields and two white "as an association
to the historical Croatian coat of arms", with a green field
symbolizing a fruit from which a golden "germ of life" emerges. Around
it are inscribed in a circle "AGRONOMSKI FAKULTET ZAGREB" and the Roman
numerals "MCMXIX" (1919). The emblem is prescribed to be
"always displayed together with the emblem of the University of
Zagreb, so that the Faculty emblem covers 1/3 of it".
The flag is in proportions 1:2, with the Faculty emblem, featuring either the University emblem (photo, photo) or not (photo, photo), in its centre. The colour of the inscription is not
prescribed, but appears to be golden-yellow.

Unofficial flag and emblem of the Faculty of Architecture - Images by Željko Heimer, 2 September 2014
The Faculty of Architecture (Arhitektonski fakultet) has roots in the Royal Technical College (Visoka tehnička škola), established in 1919 as as an institution independent from the University, becoming part of it in 1926 as the Technical Faculty. The Faculty was divided in 1956 into several independent faculties, one of which was the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (Arhitektonsko-građevinsko-geodetski fakultet), which was further divided in 1962.
The Faculty Statutes,Statut Arhitektonskog fakulteta, last amended on 29 June 2005 (text), do not prescribe any symbol other than "generic" administrative seals (Article 3); however "the use of the name and emblem of the Faculty and the University for commercial purposes outside the Faculty" is explicitely prohibited in Article 86.
The Faculty uses a simple logo consisting of the initials "Af"in Helevetica-styled font (presentation). Not being strictly speaking the Faculty flag, a flag used in connection with celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Faculty was continued to be displayed for several years in different architecturally important places around the town. The flag is vertical, white, with the Faculty logo above its full name and anniversary school years inscribed over an italic numeral "90".

Flag (two official variants) and "coat of arms" of the Faculty of Economics and Business - Images by Željko Heimer, 16 September 2014
The Faculty of Economics and Business (Ekonomski fakultet) was established in 1920 as the Merchant and Transportation College (Visoka škola za trgovinu i promet), became part of the University as the Economics and Commerce College (Ekonomsko-komercijalna visoka škola), and in 1947 the Faculty of Economics.
Article 4 of the Faculty Statutes, Statut Ekonomskog fakulteta - Zagreb (pročišćeni tekst), last amended on 2 March 2010 (text), prescribes the "coat of arms" as made of three stylized open books, forming letters "E" (inverted) and "F". The official colour of the Faculty is Pantone 261.
The flag is prescribed in proportions 1:2, either in the official colour or silver-gray (photo, photo, photo), with the University "coat of arms" in the top right and the
Faculty "coat of arms" in the bottom left topped with the short name
of the Faculty.

Flag and emblem of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing - Images by Željko Heimer, 2 September 2014
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (Fakultet elektrotehnike i računarstva - Facultas electrotechnicae et rei computatoriae) has roots in the Royal Technical College (Visoka tehnička škola), established in 1919 as as an institution independent from the University, becoming part of it in 1926 as the Technical Faculty. The Faculty was divided in 1956 into several independent faculties, one of which was the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Elektrotehnički fakultet), in 1995 renamed to the current name.
Article 3 of the Faculty Statutes, Statut Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva,, last amended on 19 January 2011 (text), prescribes that the Faculty has, among other symbols, a logo, a coat of arms and a flag, and that they contents and shape "shall be regulated with a general act". I am not aware if such "general act" was issued, but since 1995 the Faculty has been using its new emblem reflecting the name change.

Flag and emblem of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology - Images by Željko Heimer, 18 September 2014
The Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology (Fakultet kemijskog inženjerstva i tehnologije) has roots in the Royal Technical College (Visoka tehnička škola), established in 1919 as as an institution independent from the University, becoming part of it in 1926 as the Technical Faculty. The Faculty was divided in 1956 into several independent faculties, one of which was the Faculty of Technology (Tehnološki fakultet), from which several independent faculties emerged, eventually to be split in 1991 into the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology and the Faculty of Textile Technology.
The Faculty Statutes, Statut Fakulteta kemijskog inženjerstva i tehnologije (pročišćeni tekst), last amended on 6 May 2010 (text), do not mention any symbol.
The report of the dean Kurajica at the end of his four-year
term, Izvješće dekana prof. dr. sc. Stanislava Kurajice, Fakultet kemijskog inženjerstva i tehnologije Sveuč:ilišta u Zagrebu, published on 23 September 2013, includes notes on how his term was "crowned" with the adoption of the Faculty emblem, which he fondly calls "little fellow", "little man" (possibly also referring to alchemical "homunculus"). The emblem consists of five drops of fluid forming a highly stylized human form, the top one pointing upwards being blue, the side drops
pointing inwards being green and the bottom two also pointing inwards
orange. Below it there is inscription in a line, blue initials "FKIT"
and Roman numerals "MCMXIX" (1919).
The Faculty uses a white flag with th emblem in the middle (photo, photo, photo).

Flag and logo of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics - Images by Željko Heimer, 3 September 2014
One of the several faculties of the University of Zagreb located in other towns, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (Fakultet organizacije i informatike) is situated in Varaždin. It was established in 1960 as the Centre for Economic Studies (Centar za ekonomski studij), becomming the Economics College (Viša ekonomska škola) in 1962, and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in 1974.
The Faculty Statutes, Statut Fakulteta organizacije i informatike (pročišćeni tekst), last amended on 16 September 2008 (text), do not mention any symbol.
The Faculty Book of Standards (PDF (2008) presents the emblem. The "modern sans
serif" font used for the logo supposedly depicts "a dynamic and modern
Faculty", letter "o" means the centre of knowledge. The
Faculty name inscribed in "classical Garamond" font provides a "strong
appearance of tradition". The red colour of the logo is said to
represent Varaždin (see the red-white striped flag of the town),
while orange is said to be the traditional colour of the Faculty, that should remind to bee wax, and, therefore means organization.
The flag seems to be a "modification" of the informational panel,
white with red and orange stripes along the right edge, the Faculty web
address inscribed white in the later. In the white field the logo
above and under a black line the University emblem.

The Faculty previously used at least two other emblems, which are shown in the Book of Standards as emblems that should not be used anymore. The older emblem, depicted on a document dated 1997 (image), depicts stylized initials "FOI" forming the entrance gates of the Faculty building. Itwas still used in 2007 on a table flag, white with thefull Faculty name on four lines above and the University emblem below (photo).

A new emblem was introduced c. 2000 (image), featuring a more detailed drawing of the entrance, encircled with the Faculty name in red letters and black initials and the University name in the corner.

Emblem and logo of the Faculty of Political Sciences - Images by Željko Heimer, 3 September 2014
The Faculty of Political Science (Fakultet političkih znanosti) was established in 1962, succeeding the Journalism College (Viša novinarska škola) that was active from 1950 to 1952.
The Faculty Statutes, Statut Fakulteta političkih znanosti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, last amended on 30 March 2006, do not mention any symbol. Article 5 prescribes that the Faculty uses the "coat of arms" and the flag of the University (just like it is stated in most other of these Statutes), while Article 108 forbids the employees from using the Faculty
emblem for commercial purposes.
Nevertheless, at least two symbols of rh Faculty are recorded, presumably
the first being older and probably slowly phased out in place of the
second one. The emblem consists of the University emblem surrounded with a
teletype circular inscription of the Faculty name and the year "1962". A logo is also used, consisting of rotated square "dialogue
bubbles", a red and a black one, the first inscribed in two rows with
the white initials "FP/ZG" and the other with the Faculty name on three
rows.

Flag and emblem of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences - Images by Željko Heimer, 18 September 2014
In 1962, a class of postal-telephone-telegraph transport was established as inter-Faculty programme. In 1970, the Road Transport College (Viša škola za cestovni promet) was established, followed in 1972 by the Air Transport College (Viša zrakoplovna škola). In 1980, the Centre for Transportation Sciences (Centar prometnih znanosti) was established, to be added in 1982 the railroad transport studies.
Article 8 of the Faculty Statutes, Statut Fakulteta prometnih znanosti (pročišćeni tekst), last amended on 5 December 2006 (text), prescribes the Faculty emblem as composed of the three stylized initials "FPZ" coloured blue outlined white on a blue background. It seems that more often, if not always, the initials are used wihtout any outline.
The flag (photo, photo, photo) is described as blue with the emblem in the centre, sized 150 x 300 mm.
