Meaning:
The rainbow is reflecting to the commune's name, having its origin in "Bunhos" and "Arcos", materials for dwelling of the very first local inhabitants. The boat is representing fishing, an economic activity since the Middle Ages. The star is an attribute of Our Lady of the Waves. The quinas (inescutcheons) are taken from the town's oldest arms.
