It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Argent and Azure crowned by a mountain issuant Vert, in chief a fessy palm leaf Vert and beneath an inescutcheon Gules charges with a Maltese Cross Argent. Sameiro Commune is one of the four communes of the Manteigas municipality (q.v.); it had 343 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 21.1 km².
