Bandera tronchada (partida diagonalmente), con un sol amarillo de ocho puntas.
Significado:
El rojo: La sangre de nuestros héroes.
El verde: Nuestras riquezas naturales y llanura,
Las ocho puntas del sol: Representan cada una de las letras de la palabra."

There is an image of the Coat of Arms of Casanare at the official website of the Government of the Department of Casanare. There, they mentiond the authors of the Coat of Arms as Ana Isbel Navarro M., André Abellaneda "Obeen", and Master Heraldrists. The leyend on the bottom reads TRABAJO Y LIBERTAD (Labor and Freedom) on balck letters on a red background.
